Successful Aging

Successful aging encompasses a holistic approach to well-being, focusing on the avoidance of disease and disability, the maintenance of high physical and cognitive function, active engagement with life, spiritual wellness, stress management, self-care, and self-fulfillment.

Older adults commonly experience high levels of psychological well-being and social functioning with age. This ability to maintain high life satisfaction and well-being despite age-related losses in physical and cognitive functioning is called successful aging.
